The Live Grit Lakefront 10 Miler is going green! This event is a CARA Certified Green Race!
In an effort to reduce our environmental impact, we’ve adopted the following strategies:
- offering a virtual goodie bag, cutting down on paper waste but still providing runners with great sponsor offers
- eliminating individual serving water bottles at the finish line
- on-site recycling of gel wrappers
- using reusable totes for race items (bibs, shirt and any products)
- increasing the number of bike racks available on site to promote eco-friendly travel
- asking vendors to refrain from using Styrofoam
- limiting race day generator use
For the first time, you can run 10 miles without leaving a footprint!
This race adheres to a set number of Green Practices that have been approved by CARA. The successful completion of these practices recognize the achievement of an eco-friendly race.
Due to CARA’s advocacy efforts, runners in the Chicagoland area enjoy some of the highest quality road races in the country.
